Thoroughly Modern Millie

This 2002 Tony Awardwinner for Best Musical is based on the 1967 film starring Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore, which is itself based on the 1956 British musical “Chrysanthemum.”

Story:

Millie Dillmount, a Kansas girl determined to make it in New York City, tears up her return ticket shortly after arriving in the city and sets out in search of a job and a wealthy potential husband. Things seem wonderful when she finds a room at the Hotel Priscilla for Single Women and lands a job working for a rich boss she’d love to marry but not everything is as it seems. With help from new friends Jimmy Smith, Miss Dorothy Brown, and Muzzy van Hossmere, Millie learns about herself, about love, and about living in the big city.
